Working for a fresh start at Tropicana

Members of the UAW/AC Dealers Union say it's time for a "fresh start" at Tropicana casino in Atlantic City, after the National Labor Relations Board issues an unfair labor practice charging the company with violations of federal labor law.

The violations - including harassment of union supporter and unilateral changes in the workpalces -- took place during the period when former NJ Supreme Court Justice Gary Stein was running the casino.  Last month, a new group of investors acquired Tropicana.

"We've got new ownership and new management," says UAW Region 9 Director Joe Ashton.  "Now's the time to set aside these past illegal practices so everybody can work together to negotiate a first contract."
