News from Detroit, where UAW casino dealers have negotiated three successful labor contracts since 1999

The Wall Street Journal reports that Detroit‘s gambling business is doing surprisingly well. While the city's unemployment is 29%, gaming revenue at its three casinos has been off only 2% from a year ago so far this year. By contrast, Atlantic City's gaming revenue has fallen 14%, and the Las Vegas Strip is down 14%.
